Description

Lin Zhong of Zizhulin has an unusual daughter, Gui Yuchang, who has lived in seclusion for twenty years, spending her days teaching the young Wei Zhonghui. In the neighboring Red Plum Valley lives a girl, Lu Daoci, who is childhood sweethearts with Zhonghui. The two meet in secret in Lin Zhong's house, when the old servant Hu Daocong rushes in to tell Daoci that King Ji, Ding Qing Tian, has taken a fancy to her and is coming to marry her. Caught off guard, Daoci leaves two letters behind, one rejecting King Ji's advances and the other expressing Zhonghui's true feelings, vowing never to change. However, Hu Daocong, in a drunken mistake, delivers the wrong letters, causing Zhonghui to misunderstand Daoci's intentions.

Zhonghui's father was killed twenty years ago by the rival Lu clan, causing the Wei family to flee and plot their revenge for this night. The heartless sword, a symbol of the Wei family, is destined to be wielded by a Wei descendant to avenge their shame.

The Lu clan suffers repeated defeats and finds themselves trapped in an isolated city. Hu Daocong visits their camp and encounters Zhonghui, leading to a mix of emotions. Zhonghui blames Daoci for her betrayal, but Hu Daocong explains the mistake with the letters, and the two reconcile.
